The Concrete Lab Technician intern is responsible for performing laboratory testing to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and quality control requirements. This role involves preparing samples, conducting standardized tests, documenting results, and maintaining laboratory equipment. The technician works closely with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to support safe and high-quality construction practices.
This is a full-time temporary intern position.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform laboratory testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction materials in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and project specifications
Prepare and label samples for testing, ensuring proper handling and documentation
Conduct tests such as moisture content, compaction, sieve analysis, concrete compression, asphalt content, and density testing
Record, analyze, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance
Follow strict quality control procedures and safety regulations
Communicate test results and any non-conformance issues to supervisors or engineers
Maintain organized records, logs, and testing documentation
Assist with field sampling and testing when required
Ensure laboratory cleanliness and proper storage of materials
Education/Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required, Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field preferred
Knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and other relevant testing standards
Relevant certifications (ACI, NICET, etc.) preferred or ability to obtain
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Basic math and data entry skills
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory reporting software
